Urgent Action Needed

Take Action

Taxpayers Association of Brandywine Heights Area School District Has United With PTCC.

The PTCC is the Pennsylvania Taxpayers Cyber Coalition, a free subscription-based nonpartisan E-mail list that serves as a virtual taxpayers advocacy group for those who have no local group available to them. This list represents hundreds of taxpayers from throughout Pennsylvania who are concerned with school property tax reform.  Anyone can visit this website and see what it's all about.

The “Taxpayers Association of Brandywine Heights School District” is a group of taxpaying citizens who have joined together to bring awareness to the decisions regarding the operation of our school and the spending of our tax dollars in the Brandywine Heights Area School District, located in Topton, Berks County, PA. Brandywine currently has the second highest school property tax in Berks County. From the onset of our quest to find answers to our school tax situation, it became apparent that many problems we face locally are because of change that is needed on a state and federal level. The cost of public education in PA has become an escalating burden that has caused many homeowners to suffer financial hardship to the point of losing their homes. The current school taxation system is failing and has been for years. Hopefully, by taking a proactive approach to the situation at hand, change can be made, one step at a time. It will take time, diligence, and a workable approach. Our mission is to work on several fronts to bring about change and fiscal responsibility with our tax dollars. We currently have three volunteer committees:

The Proactive Committee is to focus on issues currently at hand at our schools. Individuals on this committee are working in a “proactive” approach to bring to light the issues that concern our taxpayers. Our hope is to assist our School board with constructive input, voice our concerns, and support them in making the best decisions they can, on our behalf.

Current Proactive Committee Activities

The Media Committee is set up to assist the community by “getting the word out”, regarding issues that affect our school and our tax dollars. This committee is responsible for communications through local newspapers, radio, fliers and future newsletters, to inform the public.

The Political Action Committee is to act on a higher level (State and Federal), to assist in correspondence with legislators as it relates to the burden of school taxation, to introduce the public to information currently out there on plans to possibly change the taxation system, and also to work toward changes needed with state/federal mandates that restrict our ability to reasonably fund public education.

Current Political Action Committee Activities

All citizens are welcome to join in, interact, volunteer, or contribute in a constructive way. This is a non-partisan group. All residents of Brandywine, Berks County and beyond are welcome to attend meetings. We want our meetings to be informative and to foster a constructive exchange of thoughts and ideas. If you have any information that could assist us in our goal or if you are interested in helping, please email us at dhm21@dejazzd.com and let us know. This is for the benefit of everyone. Thank you.
